“We covered the table with an old schoolhouse chalkboard, complete with cracks and scribbles to mimic the night’s sky dotted with sparkly mercury glass votives. The beauty of having a dark backdrop allows for all the colors, particularly the flowers, to really glow. Amy Osaba collected some wintery branches with dried leaves to add a coppery touch to her arrangements. Never underestimate the beauty of what you can forage during the winter. Dried leaves, seeds, and pods add textural variety and movement to any arrangement.”

It’s always such a pleasure working on shoots for Atlanta Weddings Magazine.  Especially when it’s with some of our very favorite folks.  This one is a love story taking place in one of the most romantic cities in Georgia. The idea is almost a peek into a couple’s destination wedding weekend in Savannah. We follow them antiquing at Alex Raskins, rickshaw riding in front of The Pink House, enjoying a cafe au lait at Paris Market, and dancing on River Street with a jazz band. Ohhhh the Oscars.  As if many of us need anymore excuses to plan a little soiree.  In case you didn’t catch it Amy was featured on HLN offering all kinds of tips for planning a chic and affordable Oscars party.  Enjoy!  

It is no secret that on any given wedding day you very well may see one of us alongside the road clipping branches or plucking wildflowers.  When the season is right the handpicked look and feel is truly just that somedays.  Especially now that Spring is in the air, visions of cherry blossom and everything pretty and bright dance in our heads.  For a little bit more insight into the ao handpicked style, hop on over to check out this fall feature on the HGTV Gardens blog.I’ll bet you wouldn’t be able to tell which blooms were plucked or purchased here!

So happy to share this Great Expectations themed shoot we created for The Atlantan Brides Magazine.  Moody, lush, and unruly to echo the look and feel of Lullwater Acres, a place you almost feel is lost in time.  There is no other venue in the city that could have better illustrated the epic romance of this story.  The fern was an underlying element, used both literally and graphically, from the floral arrangements to the “lacey” paper table runner.  All of this set against the gorgeous furniture pieces from Settee, and seen through the lens of Heidi, styled by Ginny …total magic.  See for yourself…Be sure to pick up the current issue of The Atlantan Brides on stands now!And you just have to check out this incredible Super 8 film by Chris Dekmar ::
